Emma, a different story.
Old works always bring to mind scenes with period costumes and are about romance, marriages and a happy ending, but Emma is not about that, it is a mixture of the imagination of its protagonist, manipulation, the ability to overcome and others topics.
Emma is a 1996 film directed by Douglas McGrath, and based on the novel by Jane Austen. It starred Gwyneth Paltrow (Emma Woodhouse), Jeremy Northam (Mr. Knightley), Toni Collette (Harriet Smith) and Ewan McGregor (Frank Churchill). It belongs to the comic and romantic genre, telling the story of Emma, an intelligent young woman determined to become the Celestina of all her friends. In addition, the main theme is the process of evolution of the protagonist of it.
Emma is a character movie, that is to say that one of the central themes is the analysis of the personality of all the characters, so each character is unique, giving relevance to the story.
As just mentioned, this work delves into the personality traits of each one of them, especially the protagonists. Despite being many, they are easy to recognize by the way they speak. Mr. Woodhouse, Emma's father, is a good-hearted men who always worries that no one eats too much or catches a cold; Miss Bates is a kind woman but she's very talkative; Mrs. Elton is a bad woman who only knows how to talk about herself and her wealth ...
"That he is charming," she replied, "is not enough to push me into marriage; I have to find other lovely people, someone else, at least. And not only is it that I'm not getting married for now, but I'm also very reluctant to get married in the future. "
Emma, Jane Austen
Emma Woodhouse is a young single woman, daughter of the distinguished Mr. Woodhouse and she does not need to look for a good husband with whom to ensure her future, she is a beautiful, smart and rich girl who can dedicate herself to taking care of her father .
When she gets her governess, Miss Taylor, to marry Mr. Weston, she decides to match the others by looking for her known favorable marriages. Started, with her friend Harriet Smith, whom she will try to guide and manipulate to get a husband to match her. However, these moments of manipulation end up creating a number of entanglements, misunderstandings and confusion that will make Emma herself doubt her abilities as a matchmaker.
In conclusion, Emma is a film recommended, very entertaining and very funny that makes you feel like you are in a romantic comedy in which entanglements and deceptions do not stop happening that will end up turning the lives of the protagonists into an apprenticeship towards sense and wisdom.
